Thursday, September 20, 2012  Panel Discussion: Supporting Peace by Increasing Resilience in Communities   


This year’s event featured a panel of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs), moderated by Hawai‘i State Representative Gene Ward (also a former PC volunteer). Panelists discussed how their service has provided education, skills, and collaborative working tools to communities worldwide to help them build strong foundations and be better prepared to face crises and conflict.Panelists included Bruce Barnes (Nigeria), Sena Pierce (Tonga), and Kevin Akayama (Bulgaria). Co-sponsored by The Matsunaga Institute for Peace, Richardson School of Law, Peace Corps, and the UH Service Learning Program.
